You're likely a pretty savvy candle user. You know what scents you favor, and you’re already educated on the benefits of soy wax vs. paraffin. That’s all there is to know about candles, right? Maybe not. You might have been missing some key steps in candle burning. There is so much more to proper candle usage other than lighting it and letting it burn.
Luckily, Luxey Maison is here to elevate your luxury candle game. This month we will begin a series on candle and diffuser tips to help you get the most out of your prestige home fragrance investment.
Tip #1: The first burn
The first burn is a crucial step not to be overlooked. If you want to prolong your candle, it is recommended you do not burn it for hours on end in the first use. A brand new candle should be lit and enjoyed for about one hour and then extinguish the flame. This is very important and the step even the most seasoned candle users tend to miss.
Why only one hour? It gives the candle a chance to form a top layer of melted wax and produce an even burn the next time it is lit. Candle wax has a memory and that first, even layer will mean optimal burn the next time around.
